MayIt’s Time
A famous singer in the ’60s once declared that “time is on my side.” Whether he’s a dreamer, naive, or actually aware of the irony in his words, I’m not sure. But in my experience time doesn’t choose sides. Time is the one inevitable aspect of life. It hangs over every decision you make; changes and alters your plans. It’s a tragedy that no mater what moment or experience you’re enjoying time will cut it short; bring it to an end. Of course, time can also save us. People say it heals all wounds. It can reveal our futures, people say only time will tell. And it can reoccur, as people say, time after time. So whether time is a saving grace or a hinderance is purely circumstantial. The tragedy lies in the fact that we can’t choose what to do with it. We can’t speed it up, slow it down, put it on pause. We can’t move in reverse. Time is unwavering and unforgiving.
